Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Agency has uncovered an illegal subsidized LPG operation in Klaten, Central Java.
Following a public report on 15 April 2026, officers raided a warehouse in Wonosari District on 28 April 2026 , seizing 1,465 gas canisters and six vehicles used for the illicit distribution.
"The abuse of subsidized goods like LPG and fuel is not only a betrayal of the state but also of the low-income citizens who rightfully deserve these subsidies," said Deputy Head of the INP Criminal Investigation Agency Inspector General Nunung Syaifudin during a press conference on Saturday (2/5/2026), as cited by antaranews.com..
Director of Certain Crimes Brigadier General M. Irhamni explained that two suspects, identified as KA (40) and ARP (26), transferred gas from 3kg subsidized canisters into 12kg and 50kg non-subsidized tanks to sell at higher prices.
The operation is estimated to cause Rp6.7 billion in state losses. Authorities are currently pursuing the financiers and broader networks involved in the scheme.
