Inp.polri.go.id - Cianjur. The Cianjur Sub-regional Police distributed clean water to residents affected by the drought in several Cianjur areas to late into the evening to ensure that households have sufficient water for their morning needs.
Assistant Superintendent Sigit Purnomo, the Head of Community Policing at the Cianjur Sub-regional Police, said on Monday (18/9/2023) that his team been delivering clean water to various affected areas for the past few weeks, focusing on areas overlooked by government-provided tanker trucks.
"Our team is currently delivering 4,000 liters of clean water to communities in Cirumput Village, Cugenang Sub-district. This area has been grappling with drought, affecting hundreds of families," he was quoted by antaranews.com as saying.
He explained that the shortage of clean water has been a persistent issue since the onset of the dry season, affecting most parts of Cianjur. To address this, the police collaboratedwith Cianjur Water Utility, the Cianjur Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency and the Indonesian Red Cross prior to launching their water distribution initiative.
"We've selected underserved areas to ensure efficient distribution without overlapping with other tanker trucks. Our distribution efforts extend into the late hours to meet all residents' needs," he added.
Throughout the dry season, they plan to continue offering clean water services to various areas as per incoming requests, aiming to ease the burden on residents as they secure clean water for their households.
"As long as demand remains high, our commitment stands. We intend to distribute 4,000 liters of water daily to drought-affected areas," he affirmed.
