The circulating posts warned WhatsApp group administrators to immediately enable an "Advanced Chat Privacy" setting to prevent Meta AI from reading messages, viewing phone numbers, or accessing personal user data.

However, WhatsApp clarified that all personal messages and calls remain protected by end-to-end encryption, ensuring only the sender and recipient can read them, according fact-checking portal turnbackhoax.id. While Advanced Chat Privacy features prevent chat content from being exported or used in AI tools, Meta AI only receives messages that users intentionally share or tag using @MetaAI. All other unaddressed chats remain entirely private and encrypted.
