The Barelang Sub-regional Police Community Development Unit, in collaboration with the State Logistics Agency (Bulog), conducted a Cheap Food Movement (GPM) for the community in Sei Tering Melcem, Tanjung Sengkuang Village, Batu Ampar District, Batam City on Monday, August 24, 2025..
This activity was carried out to help the community get the daily supplies at affordable prices while also supporting inflation control in Batam City.
The GPM was led by the Head of the Barelang Sub-regional Police Community Development Unit, Police Senior Inspector Betti Novia, and involved the Batam Branch of the Bulog, Batu Ampar District government officials, Tanjung Sengkuang Village officials, and the local community.
The event provided access to food at lower prices, including 5-kilogram packages of SPHP rice for IDR 58,000 per package, 5-kilogram packages of Befood Punakawan rice for IDR 74,000 per package, 5-kilogram packages of Befood Ramos rice for IDR 74,000 per package, and 1 liter of Minyak Kita for IDR 15,000. The event was open to the general public, with supplies provided by the Batam Bulog Branch.
Betti stated that the GPM is a form of synergy between the police, Bulog, and the local government to help the public obtain basic necessities at affordable prices.
"This activity demonstrates our collective concern and synergy to help the public obtain food at more affordable prices. Furthermore, this activity is also expected to support efforts to control inflation and maintain the stability of staple food prices in Batam City," said Betti.
The GPM concluded at around 11:30 a.m. The situation remained safe, orderly, and conducive throughout the activity. Through this activity, the police, along with the Batam Branch of Bulog, continue to demonstrate solid collaboration in maintaining food availability while providing easy access to basic necessities for the public.
