inp.polri.go.id - Tanjungpinang. Riau Islands Police Chief Inspector General Asep Safrudin, attended the Inauguration and Coordination of the Riau Islands Province Human Trafficking Prevention and Handling Task Force. He expressed his full support for the implementation of the Task Force.
"This Task Force must be a united force, not only involving law enforcement, but also all elements of society," explained the Riau Islands Police Chief on Tuesday (7/22/2025).
Asep emphasized that a comprehensive and sustainable approach is crucial in eradicating human trafficking. Therefore, the event presented strategies and coordination on task implementation by the Vice Chief of Riau Islands Police, Assistant I of the Riau Islands Provincial Secretariat, and the Head of Operations of the Riau Islands Police.
Meanwhile, Riau Islands Governor H. Ansar Ahmad, stated that human trafficking is a serious violation of human rights. The Riau Islands region, which borders neighboring countries, makes it vulnerable to human trafficking.
"According to data from the Indonesian National Police's Criminal Investigation Unit, seven out of ten human trafficking routes abroad pass through Batam and the Riau Islands region," said the Riau Islands Governor.
