inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. The Minister of Creative Economy/Head of the Creative Economy Agency, Teuku Riefky Harsya, stated that the national workforce in the creative economy sector has reached 27.4 million people, dominated by Generation Z and millennials under the age of 40, with 58 percent of the workforce being women.
He stated that the potential for the creative economy is spread across almost all regions, with diverse subsectors supported by strong cultural roots. Although largely concentrated in Java, creative economy potential is now emerging from villages outside Java.
"This shows growing potential," said Teuku Riefky Harsya after opening the IDE-IND event in Tangerang Regency, Banten, on Friday (11/6/2026).
He noted that the growth of regional institutions is also showing a positive trend. While at the end of 2024 only around 7 provinces had dedicated creative economy agencies, the number is now approaching 20.
"The number of regencies/cities establishing creative economy agencies is also targeted to grow to around 100 by the middle of next year," he said.
He said that the Ministry of Creative Economy and local governments are continuing to strengthen their commitment to elevating local brands and intellectual property (IP) so they can gain recognition on the national and global stage.
He continued, explaining that the IDE-IND event, held in Banten Province, is part of the government's ongoing efforts to promote local creative works to sustainably improve community welfare.
"We hope that through this program, local entrepreneurs can transform into national champions and penetrate the global market," he said.
