inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Criminal Investigation Agency of Indonesian National Police follows up the request of the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, on eradicating harbour mafias. They are formulating instructions for personnel to conduct duties.
"We are formulating the instructions to the personnel with the re-emphasise of the Menko Marves", Chief of Criminal Investigation Agency of Indonesian National Police, Police General Commissioner Agus Andrianto, said on Friday (12/11/2021).
Chief of Criminal Investigation Agency ensures that Police will not stay silent and supervise the cheating practices that affect the high cost in the harbour.
"However, it is more on the report from the business people who suffered (from such practices)", the three-star general said.
Menko Marves explained that he had been fed up with many dirty actions in Indonesian harbours. Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) and Indonesian National Police are asked to be braver to punish harbour mafias.
"I plead KPK and Attorney General Office and also Police to form a task force to monitor this. It is for the best that they are imprisoned", Menko Marves said.
Luhut said that the Indonesian harbour system is still inefficient, and the government is trying to regulate a more efficient system for all Indonesian harbours.
"We have implemented measures to cut the red tape. The government has also launched the Batam Logistic Ecosystem as the pilot project in which the logistical process is being simplified and operating nonstop in the harbour to cut serving time and push for more investment", Luhut said.
However, one of the government's problems to make harbour efficient is the playing parties there. Mafias force the system to be complicated when the government wants it simpler.
