inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP), Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo, stated that there has been an increase in traffic flow during the Eid homecoming period on the first day of Operation Ketupat 2026.

This traffic surge was observed during a visit to the Command Center at kilometer 29 of the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) Toll Road.

"Based on our monitoring, it can be said that traffic is generally quite smooth, although there is already a visible increase in traffic flow," explained Dedi on Saturday (3/14/2026).

From the previously reported data, Dedi stated that the first day's evaluation showed a 15% increase compared to the same day, on the first day of Operation Ketupat 2025.

"This means that in 2025, approximately 66,000 vehicles used the toll road up to kilometer 57. Today, we are at 75,000, and the hourly average is already at 3,300. We will continue to monitor this," he explained.

Meanwhile, traffic accident data for the first two days after the incident showed a 92% decrease compared to similar data in 2025. Dedi hopes this achievement can be maintained to reduce the number of accidents.

"We also urge the public to be extremely careful on the roads, both on toll roads and arterial roads. This caution can mitigate fatal traffic accidents," he said.

Dedi urged travelers to maximize rest areas for rest. If rest areas are full, travelers are expected to heed the advice of officers on the ground.

"Yes, it's okay to rest on the shoulder of the road as the shoulder of the toll road carries a fairly high risk. However, the West Java Regional Police Chief has taken anticipatory measures, including a rapid response team, in collaboration with other relevant sectors," he said.
