"Every technological advancement must consider the readiness of its users, especially children. The 'Wait for Children to Be Ready' principle, which we have been promoting in the Child Protection Policy in the Digital Space (PP TUNAS), can also be seen in the use of AI in education," explained the Minister of Communication and Digital, Thursday (March 12, 2026).

The government has established guidelines for the use of digital technology and AI through a Joint Decree (SKB) of seven ministers concerning guidelines for the use and learning of digital technology and artificial intelligence in formal, non-formal, and informal education.

This policy regulates the use of digital technology and AI from early childhood education to higher education.

Meutya considers this regulation important because Indonesia has a large number of children using the internet, so technology use must be directed to benefit the learning process while protecting children from risks in the digital space.

Meanwhile, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Pratikno emphasized that the use of digital technology and AI for children must be done wisely, taking into account their age and readiness.

"The use of digital technology and artificial intelligence for children must be done wisely, providing positive benefits and minimizing risks. The criteria for the child's age and readiness are very important in regulating this," the Coordinating Minister emphasized.
