Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Damai Cartenz Task Force detained an armed criminal group (KKB) member from the HSSBI Battalion, identified as AB alias UB, in Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, on Friday afternoon.

"When officers attempted to detain him, the suspect tried to escape, forcing them to take firm and measured action to halt his flight," said Damai Cartenz Task Force Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Yusuf Sutejo on Saturday (20/6/2026).

During the arrest at the Blok A Shophouse complex, officers seized two rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition and personal electronics. Facial recognition and database matching confirmed his identity. A subsequent raid on a nearby safehouse led to the detention of another man, identified as BK, alongside communication devices, an optical telescope, and bladed weapons.

AB alias UB is linked to a sniper attack on a Marine Task Force armored vehicle in Dekai on 13 December  2025. He faces up to 15 years in prison under the Criminal Code for unlawful possession of ammunition and attempted murder.
