Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Damai Cartenz Task Force arrested Homi Heluka, a high-ranking member of an armed criminal group (KKB), in Yahukimo, Papua Mountains, on Friday (20/2/2026).
"Homi Heluka is linked to nine violent incidents involving shootings and attacks on both civilians and security personnel," stated Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani, Head of Operation Damai Cartenz.
The suspect, identified as the Commander of the Yamue Battalion, was arrested near the Yahukimo Legislative Council (DPRD) office at approximately 11 am local time.
His criminal record includes the fatal shooting of a Mobile Brigade (Brimob) officer in 2022 and a brutal 2025 attack at a gold mining site that claimed 17 lives.
Authorities also arrested another suspect, identified as Simak Kipka, in a separate location for allegedly burning a village head’s vehicle. The Task Force are currently investigating whether he is formally affiliated with the separatist group while Heluka remains in custody for intensive questioning regarding his long string of violent offenses.
