Inp.polri.go.id - Sugapa. The Damai Cartenz Task Force arrested an 18-year-old man suspected of belonging to the armed group Kodap VIII Intan Jaya in Sugapa, Papua Tengah, on Saturday (30/5/2026).
“Initial evidence includes documents, cash, and mobile phones linked to the group. All are under forensic review,” said Senior Superintendent Yusuf Sutejo, the Head of Public Relations for the Damai Cartenz Task Force.
Investigators believe the suspect was involved in several violent incidents, including arson at Intan Jaya’s airport facilities in 2021 and shootings in 2025 and 2026. Authorities are analyzing seized devices to uncover wider networks.
Inspector GeneralFaizal Ramadhani, the Commander of the Damai Cartenz Task Force, said that all legal processes will be conducted professionally and with respect for human rights. “Law enforcement will continue against anyone involved in violence that threatens public safety,” he said.
He urged local residents to remain calm and avoid unverified information, stressing that operations aim to safeguard civilians and restore stability in Central Papua.
