Inp.polri.go.id - Timika. The Damai Cartenz 2026 Task Force arrested a member of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Timika, Central Papua, on Sunday (26/4/2026), in the SP 2 area of the Mimika Baru District following intensive monitoring by security forces.

The suspect, identified as identified by the initials TJ (alias K or AW), was a high-priority individual on the Most Wanted List (DPO), suspected of involvement in the fatal shooting of a civilian, Ahmad Gunawan, in Puncak Jaya on February 12, 2026.

 "The arrest of this wanted man demonstrates our seriousness in maintaining security and providing protection to the public," said Inspector General Faizal Ramadhani, the Head of Damai Cartenz Task Force, as cited by antaranews.com..

During the operation, the suspect attempted to flee toward a nearby forest and resisted arrest. In response, officers took "decisive and measured action," resulting in a gunshot wound to the suspect's left leg. 

He was immediately transported to Bhayangkara Hospital in Timika for medical treatment before undergoing further investigation. Authorities have urged the local community to remain calm and continue supporting law enforcement to maintain regional stability.
