Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Damai Cartenz Task Force arrested an Armed Criminal Group (KK)B, identified as Pulan Wonda, in Puncak Jaya on Thursday for his alleged involvement in the 2012 shooting of a high-ranking police convoy.
"The suspect is a wanted fugitive from the Lanny Jaya armed group with a long track record of violent attacks against civilians and security forces," said Damai Cartenz Task Force Head of Public Relations, Senior Superintendent Yusuf Sutejo,on Friday (3/4/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
Officers tracked the suspect to Peruleme Village, where he attempted to evade arrest by ramming a police vehicle. Authorities were forced to take decisive action, shooting the suspect at his leg after he ignored several warning shots.
Wonda is linked to a decade of violence, including the notorious ambush on former Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief Tito Karnavian’s entourage. Wonda is currently receiving medical treatment under heavy guard before facing formal prosecution for his roles in multiple fatal attacks across Central Papua.
