The transfer was initiated after the case files for the two suspects, identified by their initials EK and RS, were declared complete by the Wamena Prorsecutor’s Office.
"This implementation shows that the law enforcement process is running professionally, transparently, and in accordance with applicable regulations," Damai Cartenz Task Force Commander Inspector General Faizal Ramadhani said. "We are committed to bringing a sense of justice to the community and ensuring that every perpetrator of a crime accounts for their actions before the law."
Suspect EK is implicated in the 5 December 2022, murders of three motorcycle taxi drivers in Mangabib Village, Oksebang District, Bintang Mountain Regency. Suspect RS is charged in connection with the 19 September 2023, shooting and physical assault of a local public order agency officer, Simon Petrus Sroyer.
The prosecutors confirmed that suspect EK faces multi-layered joint murder charges under the Criminal Code, carrying alternative sentences up to life imprisonment or the death penalty. Meanwhile, suspect RS faces up to 15 years in prison for violent assault and shooting charges.
Led by Bintang Mountain Police Crime Investigation Chief Assistant Senior Inspector Jaya Bida Kedeng, the operations team escorted both detainees from the Sentani local detention center, flying them directly to Wamena for formal handover. The evidence transferred includes 5.56 mm ammunition casings, a 50-centimeter iron pipe, two motorcycles, and digital flash drives. The two suspects will be detained by the district attorney for 20 days prior to their upcoming trials at the Jayawijaya District Court.
