Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Damai Cartenz Task Force is hunting down the armed criminal group (KKB) responsible for shooting a civilian in Sugapa, Central Papua, on Tuesday (18/3/2025), according to Damai Cartenz Task Force Deputy Operations Commander Senior Superintendent Adarma Sinaga.

“The victim was shot while walking home from his office at the Intan Jaya Regency’s Population and Civil Registry Office,” he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The attack injured Michael Wattimena, 29, on Jalan Mamba, Yokatapa Village, at 1.20 pm local time. Security forces secured the scene and ensured the victim’s evacuation.

Preliminary reports indicate the KKB initially targeted two police officers on a motorcycle. 

“The first shot missed the officers, but the second hit the victim,” Chief Adarma said, adding that the victim was evacuated to Timika for medical treatment.
