Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Deputy of Advocacy, Mobilization and Information Sector (Adpin) of National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) Sukaryo Teguh Santoso states marriage decline in Indonesia must be evaluated further. “The data source must be clear. Is there are any marriage institutions who also reports the case? As we all know, we have religious affairs office (KUA), diocese, and other institutions,” said Teguh on Wednesday. He also adds that there are still many marriages that are held privately. However, Teguh acknowledges that the decline in the age of marriage is a new phenomenon amidst BKKBN effort in combatting stunting. As of now, BKKBN did not have the data or research related to the decline in marriage for several regions. “Other reason that must be thoroughly evaluated is psychology, social and economy aspect. The reason is because there several opinion states that high life cost that keeps growing caused people reluctant for marriage,” continued Teguh. According to him, other reason why marriage is in decline is because of good carrier, causing them to dismiss marriage as they already live a good life. Therefore, Teguh believe the data of marriage decline must be supported with comprehensive data that has been evaluated from various perspective. (ad/ndt/pr/nm)
