Inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. Defender Muhammad Alfharezzi Buffon’s 77th-minute goal led Indonesia’s U-19 team to a 1-0 victory over Malaysia in the AFF U-19 Championship semifinal at Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya on Saturday (27/7/2024).

Coach Indra Sjafri used a 5-3-2 formation, starting strikers Arkhan Kaka and Jens Raven. Indonesia had early chances, with Arkhan Kaka’s header in the 3rd minute missing the target and Figo Dennis’s long-range shot in the 11th minute going wide, according to antaranews.com.

Malaysia relied on quick attacks, but Indonesia controlled the game. In the 33rd minute, Midfielder Dony Tri Pamungkas and Kaka’s combination led to a corner, but Buffon’s follow-up shot went high.

In the second half, Coach Indra switched to a 5-2-3 formation, bringing on Midfielder Riski Afrisal and Striker Arlyansyah Abdulmanan. Afrisal’s 55th-minute shot was saved, and Welber Jardim’s attempts in the 64th and 74th minutes missed the target.

Buffon finally scored in the 77th minute after a cross from Welber Jardim, sending Indonesia to the final. Indonesia will face Thailand, who defeated Australia 1-0. Malaysia will play Australia for third place.
