inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP), Listyo Sigit Prabowo, expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm of the 2026 Kapolri Cup E-Sports participants from 34 regional police and 304 sub-regional police (Polres).
"I see the development of e-sports as extraordinary," said Listyo at the closing ceremony of the 2026 Kapolri Cup E-Sports at the Indonesia Arena, Jakarta, Sunday (8/9/2026).
Listyo explained that video games are no longer just a game, but have evolved into a sport with the potential for achievement at the national and international levels.
"It turns out that slowly but surely, it is developing into a national sport, and has even become an international sport. The number of participants is also very large," he said.
The Chief of Police hopes the competition will continue to develop to produce more new talent.
He hopes the number of participants will increase tenfold next year by holding regular competitions at the regional level.
"With an extraordinary number of video game fans, the question is: can we ten fold the number of 35,936 participants in the next year?" asked Sigit enthusiastically.
