The Denpasar City Sub-regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit has identified an American citizen, known as DCB (33), as the prime suspect in a troubling child abduction incident. Speaking in Denpasar on Wednesday (27/3/2024), Senior Superintendent Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, the Head of Public Relations Unit for the Bali Regional Police, disclosed that the alleged abduction occurred in Kori Nuansa Housing Complex in Ungasan, South Kuta, Bali. The victim, an 8-year-old child named NPA, was reportedly abducted by the suspect. Chief Jansen said that the suspect is under detention at the Denpasar Police for further interrogation. Authorities are delving into the motive behind the abduction and conducting assessments of the suspect's mental state at Sanglah Hospital. The suspect stands accused of attempting to abduct a minor, a violation outlined in Law Number 17 of 2016 on  child protection. The incident occurred on Monday, around 1.30 pm local time. The victim and cousin KN (8), encountered the suspect near their residence. Despite attempts at conversation in English, the victim failed to understand. Suddenly, the suspect forcefully grabbed the victim's hand, leading them into the suspect's yard and promptly securing the premises. Subsequently, the suspect retrieved a knife from the kitchen, prompting the victim to cry out for help. The victim's aunt, uncle, and AN arrived, forcefully opening the gate and rescuing the child.
