inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Counter-Terrorism Special Detachment (Densus) 88 managed to secure five suspects suspected of supporting the Islamic State and Syria (ISIS) group throughout March 2022. The five suspects were called media managers who spread propaganda for the terrorist group.
The Head of the Operational Assistance Section (Kabagbanops) of Densus 88, Commissioner Aswin Siregar, confirmed this on Thursday (24/03/22), and implore the community to help cut the chain of terrorism message in the social media and report it to the police.
"So that people would stay vigilant with social media content that contains messages of terrorism, and I urged them not to share it to the wider community and report it to the nearest police station instead," said the Intermediate Officer of the Densus 88 Anti-terror Police.
The five suspects who were arrested are MR, HP, MI, RBS, and DK respectively. They were arrested on March 9 to 15 in several different locations. Namely, Kendal Regency, West Jakarta, Lampung and South Tangerang.
Kabagbanops Densus 88 explained that the five suspects were related to the 'Annajiyah Media Center' group whose role was to distribute digital posters of terrorism propaganda.
"They aim to raise the spirit of jihad so that people who see it are encouraged to carry out jihad amaliyah," said Commissioner Aswin Siregar
The owner of the group is a suspect with the initials RBS who was arrested in the Palmerah area, West Jakarta on March 9. He is believed to be a supporter of the Daulah Islamiyah ISIS.
From the arrest of the suspect RBS, the police officers secured several pieces of evidence, such as a baton sword, a book entitled 'Tarbiyah Jihadiyah', 'Ad-Daa' Wa Ad-Dawaa', 'Kitab Tauhid', 'Yes They Are Thogut',' Welcoming the New Crusade', and 'Al-Wala Wal-Bara', and a hat with ‘Tauhid’ written on it.
From the other suspects, the police also confiscated several evidence in the form of books with various titles. In addition, there was also a set of Airgun CM-036 model AK-47 which was confiscated from the suspect with the initials MR.
