inp.polri.go.id - Banjarmasin. The Ministry of Communication and Digital has established 722 internet service points through the Telecommunications and Information Accessibility Agency (BAKTI) in South Kalimantan to expand access to digital connectivity, especially in areas with limited telecommunications networks and public services.

Tri Haryanto, Acting Director of Telecommunications and Information Services for Enterprises at the ministry, stated that the services are spread across 13 regencies, with one point using a fiber optic network and 721 points utilizing the SATRIA satellite.

"Service provision is supported by a combination of state-owned assets (BMN) and a service lease scheme to reach areas not yet served by terrestrial networks, so that equitable internet access can continue to be expanded," he said at the Coordination Meeting for the Synchronization of Blankspot Handling Programs across South Kalimantan in Banjarmasin on Wednesday (4/29/2026).

He stated that Hulu Sungai Utara Regency has the most points, with 179 locations, reflecting the government's focus on areas with high demand for communication and information access to support public services.

Of the 722 locations, he stated that 635 are located in the education sector, specifically schools, thus serving as the backbone of BAKTI's internet services in driving the digital transformation of learning in South Kalimantan.

Besides the education sector, internet services also reach healthcare facilities, government offices, community centers, the defense and security sector, and some businesses to support local economic activity.

Based on monitoring through the Network Management System (NMS), Tri stated that some service points showed high utilization rates, reflecting optimal utilization according to user needs in various locations.

However, there were approximately 77 service points with low utilization rates that warranted evaluation, particularly in the education and government office sectors, which should have relatively high utilization rates.

He stated that the government was considering relocating service points with low utilization to other areas with greater need, to ensure more effective internet access distribution and a direct impact on improving public services.
