inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, stated that the monthly cash flow from the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program in West Java Province reaches IDR 6 trillion.

Dadan explained that the MBG Program is designed to create economic activity in the regions through a budget distribution scheme that goes directly to Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG).

"In West Java, there are already 6,200 SPPGs. This means that around IDR 6 trillion per month circulates in the regions just from this program," he said in an official statement in Jakarta on Wednesday (4/29/2026)..

Dadan stated that, with a total budget of IDR 268 trillion, the MBG Program is one of the largest fiscal interventions that directly impacts communities at the local level.

"We channel these funds directly to the regions through virtual accounts at each SPPG. Around IDR 248–249 trillion flows downstream and is spent locally," he said.

According to Dadan, this scheme makes SPPG a new center of economic activity in the region, where each unit manages a budget of around IDR 1 billion per month, with the majority of these funds used to purchase raw food ingredients from the surrounding community.

He added that approximately 70 percent of the SPPG budget is allocated for the purchase of raw materials, 95 percent of which are local agricultural, livestock, and fishery products.

"This means that the MBG Program is synonymous with local food self-sufficiency, as almost all needs are supplied locally," he said.

Furthermore, this large-scale influx of funds has begun to have a ripple effect on the local economy. Demand for agricultural commodities has increased, product prices have become more stable, and production activities at the farmer and small business level have been boosted.

The MBG Program, according to Dadan, has also contributed to socioeconomic indicators. (BGN) has noted a downward trend in poverty and unemployment rates in several regions, as well as a narrowing of economic inequality.
