inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Communication and Digital stated that 43,063 content, accounts, and sites affiliated with online gambling from January 1st-6th, 2025, have been banned.
"In accordance with the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto and the Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid, it is important for us to protect the younger generation from online gambling content, illegal online loans and other negative content in the digital space," said Acting Director General of Public Communication and Media, Molly Prabawaty as quoted by Antara on Tuesday (1/7/2025).
She explained that the results of cross-sector collaboration, public complaints, agency/institution reports, and cyber patrols from October 20th, 2024 to January 6th, 2025, Ministry of Communication and Digital deleted 711,522 content. The details include 652,147 websites and IPs, 29,964 content/accounts on the Meta platform, 17,836 file sharing, 6,842 on Google/YouTube, 4,075 on the X platform, 435 on Telegram, and 219 on Tiktok.
"We also blocked accounts that have a large number of followers ranging from hundreds of thousands to millions of followers, including the IG accounts @becandayo (326,000 followers) @putridelvasyakira (670,000 followers) @hitzmedsos (338 followers). These accounts are affiliated with online gambling sites and promotions," he explained.
He also considered the role of all parties, including parents, is very important in supervising digital activities. Parents are encouraged to be more active in checking the types of games played by children and ensuring that the games are age-appropriate to prevent them from potential exposure to content that leads to gambling.
