inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Djamari Chaniago requested that security for the demonstration on Thursday (8/27/2026) be strictly enforced while still prioritizing a persuasive approach.

Djamari requested that the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police and the Jakarta Military Command, along with the public, monitor the demonstration, particularly around the DPR RI Building, so that the protesters' aspirations can be expressed safely and orderly.

"The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, the Jakarta Military Command, and the public will participate in security. We will protect and escort our citizens as they convey their aspirations to the DPR," Djamari said at the GBK complex in Jakarta on Thursday (8/27/2026).

Djamari stated that security measures were also aimed at preventing other parties or groups from attempting to enter and disrupt the demonstration.

These preventative measures are considered crucial to ensure the demonstration remains focused on conveying aspirations and is not exploited by those seeking to incite disruption or chaos.

"This is to prevent other groups from infiltrating the protest, which could obscure or even thwart the aspirations being expressed," he explained.

According to Djamari, the government wants to ensure that the public can exercise their right to express their opinions safely, while maintaining control of the security situation around the demonstration site.

In addition to security measures, Djamari hopes that members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) will receive representatives from the crowd and listen directly to their aspirations.

He hopes that the aspirations received by the DPR will be followed up according to established mechanisms.
