inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) approved the Draft Law (RUU) on Employment Protection as a DPR initiative proposal. This approval was made during the 3rd Plenary Session of the DPR for the 2026–2027 Session Period I at the DPR Building, Jakarta, Thursday (8/27/2026).

This decision marks a crucial step in the process of drafting new regulations in the employment sector. After being designated as a DPR initiative proposal, the bill will then be discussed with the government.

Approval was granted after representatives from political party factions submitted their views in writing. Vice Speaker of the DPR, Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, then requested the approval of council members on the bill proposed by Commission IX of the DPR.

"Can the bill proposed by Commission IX of the DPR RI on Employment Protection be approved as a DPR initiative bill?" Cucun asked during the plenary session. The legislators also agreed.

Previously, the Employment Protection Bill had undergone a harmonization process in the DPR's Legislative Body. In a joint meeting with Commission IX of DPR on Wednesday (8/26/2026),

The Legislation Body approved the results of the harmonization, consolidation, and consolidation of the draft bill's concept for further processing.

Representing the proponents, Vice Chairperson of Commission IX of the DPR, Putih Sari, expressed her hope that the legislative process would result in regulations that provide greater legal certainty for the workforce.

"We, from Commission IX of the DPR RI, express our gratitude for all the input, notes, and, of course, the approval provided by the Legislative Body so that we can proceed with the Employment Protection Law," said Putih Sari.
