inp.polri.go.id - Kerinci. Kerinci Regency's potato productivity increased by 8.76 percent throughout 2025. This increased productivity boosted potato production and supply to the regional market.

Horticulture Statistics data recorded an increase in productivity from 16.7 to 18.2 tons per hectare. Climate conditions during the 2025 planting season are considered favorable for potato and tuber vegetable cultivation.

The Head of the Kerinci Food Crops and Horticulture Service, Radium Halis, stated that Kerinci is Jambi's main potato center. Production centers are spread across Kayu Aro, West Kayu Aro, Gunung Tujuh, and Gunung Kerinci.

Kerinci potato production throughout 2025 reached 131,387 tons from a harvested area of 7,212 hectares.

"We are encouraging the expansion of market access between regions to ensure that prices remain profitable for farmers," he said, as reported by RRI on Saturday (1/31/2026).

The Kerinci Regional Government is also strengthening collaboration with the central government and national potato entrepreneurs. Seed development is carried out through the Kayu Aro Potato Seed Center.

The center is prepared to produce G-zero class potato seeds for breeder farmers. Muhammad Agung Sunusi, Director of Vegetables and Medicinal Plants at the Ministry of Agriculture, stated that national production is sufficient.

National potato production in 2025 was recorded at 1,235,939 tons from a harvested area of 67,758 hectares. Production is dominated by the Granola variety of vegetable potatoes, which meets national needs.

The Ministry of Agriculture is encouraging downstreaming and diversification of processed potato products. Market expansion and downstreaming are considered to increase added value and farmer incomes.

The Minister of Agriculture emphasized that downstreaming is key to national agricultural transformation. "Downstreaming increases added value and strengthens farmer welfare," he explained.
