Inp.polri.go.id - Makassar. The Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team at the South Sulawesi Regional Police identified two female victims of the KM Nurul Salsa shipwreck at Bhayangkara Hospital in Makassar on Thursday (23/7/2026).

"Body bag PM 62 B01 matched AM002, identified as Hasriati, 44, through dental records, medical data, and property," confirmed Head of the South Sulawesi Police Medical and Health Department, Senior Superintendent Muhammad Haris.

The second body was identified as Bau Intang, 50, using fingerprints and medical records. Both victims were residents of Selayar Islands Regency, according to antaranews.com. 

South Sulawesi Police Head of Public Relations Head Senior Superintendent Didik Supranoto stated that out of 76 passengers aboard the ill-fated vessel, 58 survived, four died, and 14 remain missing. 

Search operations recovered another unidentified male body on Thursday near Matalaang Island, while investigators have questioned 23 witnesses regarding potential vessel negligence and overcrowding.
