Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. Joint security forces from the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (INP) evacuated two of three civil shooting victims targeted by an armed criminal group (KKB) in Seradala District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains, on Thursday (23/7/2026).

"The bodies of the married couple are currently at Dekai Regional Hospital and will be handed over to their family for burial," said Yahukimo Sub-regional Police Chief Superintendent Zet Saalino.

Evacuation efforts faced severe logistical challenges due to strong river currents along the Brazza River, which officers must cross to reach the crime scene. A search party will resume operations on Friday to locate and retrieve the third victim, a woman. 

The victims were local residents engaging in traditional gold panning in Seradala District. Authorities confirmed that the attack was carried out by a KKB faction led by Kopi Tua Heluka on Monday).
