Inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. East Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Dekananto Eko Purwono reaffirmed the police’s firm commitment to eradicating the illegal distribution of List G prescription drugs, identifying substance abuse as a primary catalyst for juvenile delinquency and public order disruptions.
Speaking at the East Java Police Headquarters in Surabaya on Sunday (11/10/2026)), he stressed that stopping illegal pharmaceutical trade is a top operational priority to protect the younger generation across East Java.
"One of my main priorities is tackling the illicit distribution of List G prescription drugs. I will ensure East Java is free from these illegal substances, as their abuse triggers juvenile delinquency, street brawls, and wider public order disruptions," Chief Dekananto said.
Official police records show that the East Java Police Directorate of Narcotics Investigation and local police offices confiscated 1,079,746 illegal prescription pills between July and September 2026. Added to the 3,653,382 pills seized during the first half of the year, total seizures reached 4,733,128 pills from January through September 2026.
In addition to law enforcement operations, Chief Dekananto pledged to maintain humanistic and professional police services while welcoming public evaluation and constructive criticism. Taking over leadership continuity from former East Java Police Chief Inspector General Nanang Avianto, he highlighted the importance of inter-agency synergy with local government, the Indonesian Military (TNI), and community stakeholders under the "Police with the Community" framework.
