The award was presented to the East Java Regional Police's Directorate of Water and Air Unit for their strong international collaboration.
James A. Markley, Director of Diplomatic Facilities at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Attaché for the U.S. Forest and Wildlife Service (USFWS), stated that this award recognizes the Indonesian National Police (INP)'s dedication and professionalism in addressing transnational crime.
"The United States Government, through its Embassy, expresses its highest appreciation to INP, especially the East Java Regional Police, for their commitment to law enforcement and the protection of protected wildlife," he said on Thursday (4/2/2026).
The award was presented to the East Java Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Nanang Avianto, and the Director of Water and Air Unit, Senior Superintendent Arman Asmara Syarifuddin. The award was presented at the East Java Regional Police's Water and Air Unit Directorate and was received by the Vice Director of Water and Air Unit Directorate, Superintendent Ahmad Nanang Wibowo, representing the leadership.
On the occasion, James A. Markley also emphasized that this collaboration not only impacts operational success but also strengthens the foundation of strategic collaboration in the fields of conservation and security.
"This collaboration is an example of international synergy that can have a real impact on environmental and biodiversity protection," he added.
Meanwhile, Arman expressed his appreciation for the award and reaffirmed the East Java Regional Police's commitment to continuously improving its performance.
"This award motivates us to continue strengthening our water security and preserving wildlife through cross-border cooperation," he said. He also added that these achievements are inseparable from community support and synergy with various parties.
