inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. The East Java Regional Police sent humanitarian aid to help communities affected by natural disasters in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
The aid was dispatched directly by East Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Nanang Avianto before the 81st Indonesian Independence Day Commemoration Ceremony at the East Java Regional Police headquarters on Monday (8/17/2026).
East Java Regional Police Public Relations Chief, Senior Superintendent Jules Abraham Abast, stated that the aid provided covered various needs for the affected communities, including approximately 11.62 tons of food, 23,429 liters of bottled drinking water, and 853 dozens of various refugee needs.
"We hope this aid can help ease the burden on our brothers and sisters affected by the disaster in East Nusa Tenggara," said Abast.
Abast stated that the support provided by them not only consisted of logistical assistance but also operational support and psychological care for the affected communities.
The East Java Regional Police also deployed a Psychology Team from the Human Resources Bureau to provide trauma healing services, especially for those in need of psychological support after the disaster.
"In addition to the Psychology Team from the Human Resources Bureau, we also sent personnel from the East Java Regional Police Mobile Brigade Unit and the East Java Regional Police Water and Air Unit to support humanitarian activities at the affected locations," said Abast.
To support the delivery and operation of aid, the East Java Regional Police deployed approximately 14 operational vehicles and transport vehicles.
In addition, the East Java Regional Police also sent two field kitchens and two water treatment vehicles.
The field kitchens were prepared to help meet the consumption needs of the affected community, while the water treatment vehicles will support the provision of clean water to residents at the disaster site.
According to Abast, this aid is part of a phased distribution program as a form of concern and solidarity from the East Java Regional Police to the people of NTT affected by the disaster.
"We will continue to evaluate and adjust the aid gradually to the needs of the people in East Nusa Tenggara," said Abast.
