inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Center for Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Public Relations Chief, M Natsir Kongah, says that his party focused on resolving the sexual exploitation of children.

“This was shown by the strong cooperation between PPATK and Indonesia Child Protection Commission (KPAI) through Memorandum of Understanding and cooperation agreement between the two institutions to combat child sexual crimes," said Natsir, Wednesday (8/7/24).

According to the 2024 data, there are 303 children who fell victim to sexual and economic exploitation, 128 others fell victim to human trafficking criminal actions, and 481 were victims of child pornography.

On the other hand, the alleged child prostitution numbered around 24,000 children in the age range of 10-18 years with a transaction frequency of up to 130,000 times and a turnover value of 127 billion IDR

Natsir says that the effort PPATK to combat child sexual exploitation crimes not only covers domestic areas, but also reaches abroad areas including South Asia, Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific.

In regional scales, PPATK and all related stakeholders held Focus Group Discussion to formulate the draft of Concept Note and Questionnaire which will result in the form of a red flag indicator document for suspicious financial transactions related to the crime of child sexual exploitation.

“We aim to complete the first draft of the document by November 2024,” says Natsir.

The June 2024 Interpol data shows there are 69 countries linked to child sexual exploitation rings. Therefore, a transnational conference such as ASEAN becomes important to strengthen commitment and contribution for all countries involved.
