inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Environment and Forestry highlights the importance of forest management to reduce emissions and prevent climate change.
“Our commitment for this effort is unshaken, because we are aware that the impact is huge for our environment, community, and future,” says Director of Planning and Supervision of Watershed Management Saparis Soedarjanto on Wednesday (8/7/2024).
Saparis says that forests can absorb the carbon emissions. Therefore, strictly speaking, the Ministry of Environment and Forestry through policy and law enforcement prohibits illegal logging activities.
"The realization of a sustainable forest management certification system aimed at stopping illegal logging," explained Director Saparis.
Forest management aims to support the existing effort to prevent, stop, and flip the table of the current situation. He believes that if Indonesia successfully manages the forest sector, then Indonesia can reduce the greenhouse gasses.
Indonesia in the forest sector has set the target of net sink carbon in 2030. Corrective steps to fix forest management will continue to be developed and implemented through strengthening policies, more organized programs.
