Inp.polri.go.id - Dumai. Dozens of police officers were deployed to secure Pertamina’s Dumai Refinery Unit II after an explosion and fire broke out on Wednesday night, raising concerns over the safety of nearby communities.
Police, military personnel, and Pertamina’s security teams worked together to keep the situation under control and maintain public order.
“To ensure smooth handling of the explosion, officers were sent to secure the refinery area and manage traffic for fire trucks and emergency units,” Dumai Police Chief Superintendent Angga F. Herlambang said Thursday (2/10/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
He stressed that police acted swiftly to protect the community and prevent further risks from the incident.
Pertamina confirmed the fire was contained by 11.20 pm local time with no casualties reported. Emergency teams carried out rapid mitigation steps to prevent the blaze from spreading to other units. Operations at the refinery remain stable, while an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident.
