Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Religious Affairs  Nasaruddin Umar called on the nation Wednesday (18/3/2026) to embrace the Nyepi Day of Silence as a pivotal moment to strengthen brotherhood and nurture harmony within Indonesia's diverse society.

"This year’s celebration is unique as it coincides with the holy month of Ramadan and nears the Eid al-Fitr festivities," said Nasaruddin Umar, the Minister of Religious Affairs, as cited by antaranews.com..

The Minister justified the significance of this overlap as a divine reminder of the "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" philosophy, the belief that the world is one family. He explained that the Hindu practice of Catur Brata Penyepian, which involves fasting from fire, work, travel, and entertainment, offers a vital "pause" for the universe to restore its balance. By silencing personal egos and physical activities, the Minister believed believers can find the inner clarity needed to foster social cohesion across different faiths.

Nasaruddin expressed optimism that the spirit of Nyepi would inspire all Indonesians to play an active role in maintaining national unity. He said that by honoring nature and spiritual reflection, the nation collectively elevates its human dignity and ensures long-term social stability.
