Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Military Police (Puspom TNI) detained four active-duty service members in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/3/2026) following their alleged involvement in a chemical acid attack against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus.
"We have detained these four suspects at Puspom TNI headquarters to proceed with a formal criminal investigation," said Major General Yusri Nuryanto, the Commander of the Indonesian Military Police, as quoted by antaranews.com
The suspects, identified as members of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) Headquarters Detachment, were detained to undergo interrogation regarding the assault on the prominent rights advocate. Investigators are currently profiling the suspects, initialed NDP, SL, BWH, and ES, to determine the motive behind the targeted violence.
Under the Criminal Code, the personnel face up to seven years in prison if convicted of causing severe physical injury. The military leadership has pledged a transparent legal process as the case moves toward the military prosecutor for trial.
