Inp.polri.go.id - Garut.  Senior Brigadier Cecep Saepul Bahri, a police officer who died while guarding a public celebration in Garut, was posthumously promoted to Assistant Second Inspector by the INdonesian National Police (INP)as a mark of honor.

"This promotion shows the country and the institution’s highest respect for his service and sacrifice. May it bring pride and strength to his family,” said Garut Sub-regional Police Chief Superintendent Yugi Bayu Hendarto during the ceremony at the officer’s home on Saturday (19/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

Officer Cecep died on Friday while helping fainted local residents caught in a crowd surge during the celebration for a local official’s wedding at the Garut Regency Pendopo. Overcome by exhaustion and breathing difficulty, he was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

His passing was also mourned by West Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan, who visited the family and paid tribute at the officer’s grave.
