Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police have uncovered an online child prostitution ring operated from within Cipinang Penitentiary by a 40-year-old inmate.
“This convict used a mobile phone to advertise underage girls on social media and coordinate their exploitation from prison,” said Superintendent Rafles Langgak Putra Marpaung, the Metro Jaya Police Cyber Crimes Directorate Head of Sub-directorate 1, on Saturday (19/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The inmate, identified as AN, allegedly promoted the minors using the X platform, selling two 16-year-old schoolgirls to clients in South Jakarta hotels. He had been serving a sentence for a similar child trafficking offense since 2019. Police say the girls were paid up to Rp 1 million per encounter, while suspect AN took a cut.
Authorities seized mobile phones and social media accounts as evidence. Suspect AN now faces additional charges under the Electronic Information Law and Criminal Code, with penalties up to nine years in prison.
The case was uncovered through cyber patrols and inter-agency coordination with prison authorities.
