Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Setia Budi Tarigan, the father of Christiano Pengarapenta Pengidahan Tarigan, an economics student of the Gadjah Mada university (UGM) who drove a BMW car that fatally struck Argo Ericho Afandhi, a UGM law student, publicly apologized.
“From the bottom of our hearts, please allow us to express our deepest condolences to Mrs. Meiliana and her family who lost Argo. We never expected this tragedy to happen,” he said in a video statement received by antaranews.com on Sunday (1/5/2025).
Setia Budi also apologized to the public and those affected by the incident.
He explained that Christiano is traumatized and has been cooperating with police since the crash on 24 May 2025. He emphasized Christiano was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs, supported by negative urine tests.
The family denies rumors of any payment to the victim’s family. Christiano has been named a suspect under traffic laws governing fatal accidents, with the case now under investigation.
