In a unique sight at the promotion ceremony for four high-ranking officers led by Indonesian National Police (INP) Deputy Chief Commissioner General Agus Andrianto on Monday (26/2/2024), a female general took the role of Ceremony Commander. The striking commander, Brigadier General Nurul Azizah, currently serves as the Director of the Police Science Program at Indonesian National Police Academy (STIK). Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, the Head of the Public Information Bureau of the INP Public Relations Division, said that General Nurul's appointment as a Ceremony Commander reflects INP's commitment to gender equality. "Today's Ceremony Commander for the INP Promotion Corps is Brigadier General Nurul Azizah. This demonstrates Polri's commitment to equality," he said in a written statement. General Nurul, a former Head of the Public Information Division of the INP Public Relations Bureau, executed her duties as a Ceremony Commander seamlessly. She handled the responsibilities typically carried out by male officers with confidence. Expressing gratitude for the trust placed in her by the INP leadership, General Nurul considered her role a valuable experience that motivates her to undertake tasks typically assigned to male officers.
