Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Manpower warned companies about potential fines for late payments of Eid al-Fitr bonuses. "Fines amounting to five percent of the total bonus will be imposed. This applies to each individual or per employee not receiving their due," said Haiyani Rumondang, the Director General of Manpower Supervision and Occupational Safety and Health at the Ministry, on Monday (18/3/2024). She underscored that imposing fines does not exempt companies from their obligation to provide Eid bonuses to their employees as mandated. According to Minister of Manpower Circular Letter M/2/HK.04/III/2024, Eid bonus payments in full for this year must be completed at least seven days before Eid. Indah Anggoro Putri, the Director General of Industrial Relations and Social Security at the MInistry, said that the Ministry has coordinated with industrial relations mediators, labor inspectors, and labor office heads across Indonesia to ensure timely Eid bonus disbursements. "Though some companies have reported intentions to pay after the due date, we are committed to assisting them in complying with the Minister's circular to the fullest extent. However, any decision regarding delayed payments must be mutually agreed upon by both employers and employees," she added. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
