inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A fire broke out at the Djakarta Theater building on MH Thamrin No. 9 street, Menteng, Central Jakarta on Tuesday evening.
The Head of the Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Marulitua Sijabat, stated that the fire was suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit in one of the building's rooms.
"The suspicion is that it was caused by an electrical short circuit. The affected object was the XXI kitchen in the Djakarta Theater Building," Marulitua said when confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/21/2026) evening.
He said there were no injuries or fatalities as a result of the incident.
Firefighters moved quickly to extinguish the fire, which broke out at around 9:30 p.m., preventing the flames from spreading to other rooms in the building.
"There were no casualties; the fire has been extinguished," he said.
According to information from the Jakarta Command Center, the firefighting operation was completed at 9:50 p.m. with one firefighting unit consisting of four personnel.
Although there were no casualties, the losses caused by the incident were estimated at Rp. 20 million.
