For Eight Times, UNESCO Appoints Indonesia to be Its Executive Boards Member

Indonesia was chosen to be the member of UNESCO Executive Boards for 2023-2027 during the general conference of the 42nd UNESCO in Paris, France on Wednesday (11/15/2023). “Indonesia is committed to actively involved and work together with other state members to ensure the continuality and sustainability of various fields that has become the focus of UNESCO,” says the Ambassador of Indonesia for France, Andorra, Monako Mohamad Oemar in his written statement, Thursday (11/16/2023). Oemar then convey his appreciation for the continuous support from UNESCO for Indonesia. According to him, Indonesia being choosen as the Executive Board of UNESCO for the eight times since joining UNESCO in 1950 shows the world trust Indonesia in giving significant contribution of further improving culture, education, science, communication, and information in international level. “We truly respect the pluralism principle and the multilateral and international cooperation that has become the key success in answering world challenges and achieving continuous development agenda in all competency areas that has become the mandate of UNESCO,” explained Ambassador Oemar. He stressed that as the Executive Board of UNESCO, Indonesia now has huge responsibility in actively formulate policies and make strategic decisions related to UNESCO programs and policies. “Executive Board has a crucial role in monitoring the programs of UNESCO and ensure the organization funds used efficiently and effectively according to the regulations,” says Oemar. Moreover, UNESCO executive Boards also bears the responsibility for the implementation of regulations that has been agreed by all members of UNESCO. With many roles it bears, executive boards become the driving force to ensure that UNESCO could achieve its goals in achieving peace through International cooperation in education, science, culture, communication, and information fields.
