Riau Island Regional Police Traffic Directorate gave warnings to foreigners to comply with the applicable rules of Batam City following 11 traffic violations by foreigners across 2023. “It is hoped that all drivers, foreigners included, in Batam would be careful and discipline in driving to suppress accident potentials,” says Grand Commissioner Tri Yulianto. Regional police states that they have met with several foreigners in Batam to convey security messages in traffic through their program of Pos Bising. “The goals of this socialization is for people to be able to avoid any traffic accident and comply with the traffic rules,” state Riau Island Traffic Directorate. She adds that in effort to support ranks of Riau Island Traffic Police, the institution has installed electronic ticketing cameras in four different locations in Batam City, namely Simpang Panbil, Simpang KBC Batam Kota, Simpang Engku Putri, and Simpang Baloi.
