Former West Papua BIN Chief Named Suspect in Land Certificate Forgery Case

Inp.polri.go.id - Sorong. The Sorong City Sub-regional Police  in West Papua has named the former Regional Head of the State Intelligence Agency for West Papua, identified as JW, as a suspect in an alleged land certificate forgery case.
Senior Superintendent Happy Perdana Yudianto, the Chief of Sorong City Police, announced on Saturday  (3/2/2024)that two out of the four individuals reported have been identified as suspects by the investigators. In addition to JW, the other two suspects are a married couple, identified as YS, the Head of the National Land Agency (BPN) in Sorong City, and EM, his wife, antaranews.com reported. "We have investigated on the alleged document forgery and have officially named suspects," Chief Happy said Meanwhile, another individual with the initials VN, who is running as a legislative candidate in the upcoming general elections has not been named as a suspect. Chief Happy said that the decision regarding VN's status would be deferred until after the elections. "VN has not been declared a suspect as he is currently a legislative candidate. We will reassess and determine his status post-elections," he explained. The three suspects have undergone questioning related to the forgery of land documents, specifically land certificates. He explained that, despite initial reports of three forged documents, the investigators have only uncovered evidence of one forged document. The police are continuing their investigation to explore other potentially falsified documents. "n light of the alleged legal violations, the three suspects face multiple charges under the Criminal Code. The case originated from a police report filed by Mariam Manopo in 2023, accusing the suspects of land certificate embezzlement on Kontainer Street, Kalasuat Village, Klaurung District, Sorong City, West Papua.
