An unidentified member of the armed criminal group (KKB) led by  Numbuk Telenggen attacked and robbed firearms from the Security Post of the Airports Unity Task Force (KP3) at Aminggaru Airport in Ilaga, Puncak Regency, Central Papua an official said. The suspects took away an SS1-V1 type firearm and a magazine containing 20 rounds of 5.56mm caliber ammunition from the KP3 Airports Post in Aminggaru before fleeing to the Mundidok village in the Gome District, antaranews.com reported. Senior Superintendent Ignatius Benny Prabowo, the Head of Public Relations for the Papua Regional Police, explained that the Mundidok village is as one of the KKB bases. The incident occurred on Thursday at the Ilaga market while the security personnel at the KP3 Airports were delivering goods. "After seizing the firearms, they fled towards Mundidok village. The joint Indonesian Military and Police team is currently conducting search operations, but no results have been achieved so far," he said. During the hunt, the joint team faced gunfire, resulting in a brief exchange of gunfire. The authorities have identified the suspects. "This incident emphasizes the need for both the military and polcie personnel as well as the public to remain cautious and vigilant during their activities to avoid potential criminal actions by such groups," the spokesperson said The firearm robbery occurred in Ilaga, a region under the jurisdiction of the Puncak Sub-regional Police, one of the police districts in Central Papua Province, alongside Nabire Police, Puncak Jaya Police, Dogiyai Police, Deiyai Police, Paniai Police, and Intan Jaya Police. Authorities continued their efforts to arrest the suspeccts to ensure the safety of the community. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
