Inp.polri.go.id - Krui. A French tourist was found dead after drowning at Walur Beach, Pekon Walur, South Krui District, West Pesisir regency, Lampung on Monday (29/7/2024).
Second Inspector Kasiyono, the West Pesisir Sub-regional Police Chief of Public Relations Unit, confirmed that the body of the tourist, identified as Leo Bauthamy (22), was found around 2.02 pm and evacuated to Central Pesisir Health Center for further identification.
The incident occurred after Bauthamy went missing on Sunday. He had left his accommodation at Villa Mios Bungalows on a red and black Honda Beat motorcycle, carrying archery and diving equipment but no surfboard.
Before his departure, Bauthamy informed his friend, identified as Daniel Ari, that he intended to fish at Walur Beach. Later that day, at around 7 pm, a local resident noticed Bauthamy’s motorcycle unattended near the beach and took it to Villa Mutun for safekeeping.
Police have since gathered statements from witnesses and coordinated with the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) and the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) for a search operation.
The police have contacted the immigration authorities to facilitate communication with his family and to manage the repatriation of the body, according to antaranews.com.
