Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Haj and Umrah has officially advised Indonesian citizens scheduled for Umrah to postpone their departures due to the rapidly escalating and unpredictable security situation in the Middle East.
The warning was a response to a series of flight cancellations and regional airspace closures involving Iran, Israel, and the United States. While thousands of pilgrims remain in Saudi Arabia, the government is coordinating with travel agencies and Saudi authorities to ensure those stranded receive proper accommodation and safety.
"Considering the uncertain conditions and rising escalation in the Middle East, we urge pilgrims planning to depart soon to delay their trips," said Deputy Minister Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak on Sunday (1/3/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
He said that while 2026 Hajj preparations remain on track, the immediate priority is citizen safety. Families are urged to stay calm and rely solely on official government updates to avoid misinformation. The ministry continues to monitor regional dynamics to determine when travel conditions will return to normal.
