The government is seriously evaluating and improving the governance of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program to ensure it reaches its target audience, prioritizing the 3B group (pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers), as well as the 3T (underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost) areas.

The Head of the Indonesian Government Communication Agency (Bakom), Muhammad Qodari, stated that the focus on the 3B group is being implemented because providing nutrition to this group is considered the most effective way to prevent and reduce stunting rates.

"This is where intervention, when it comes to stunting, is most effective," said Qodari on Friday (6/26/2026).

In addition to the 3B group, the government will also expand its attention to the 3T areas, which currently face various limitations in access and resources.

According to him, the MBG program has provided tangible benefits to the community because it is distributed routinely every day during the school year.

Looking ahead, the government is optimistic that the various arrangements and improvements made will further improve the quality of program implementation, from nutritional aspects to the hygiene of the food received by beneficiaries.

"So, I think there will be many changes going forward. God willing, it will improve the nutritional quality, health quality, and hygiene of the MBG received by our children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers," he said.

Qodari added that President Prabowo Subianto has also mandated the new leadership of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) to organize and strengthen the governance of the MBG program.

All planned improvements are guaranteed to receive the president's direct attention.
